Teberda National Park
Teberda National Park, Protected national park in Karachay-Cherkessia, Russia
The national park encompasses 120 square kilometers of mountain ranges, deep valleys, alpine meadows, and dense forests in the Northern Caucasus region.
Scientists began documenting the park's flora, fauna, and glaciers in 1878, leading to its official establishment as a protected area in 1936.
The park territories connect with ancient shepherding routes and settlements of Caucasian mountain peoples who maintain their traditional ways of life.
Visitors can access hiking trails, mountain climbing routes, and skiing areas through the main entrance in Teberda town after obtaining necessary permits.
The park contains rare plant and animal species listed in the Russian Red Book, including the Caucasian chamois and endemic mountain flowers.
