Ukrainka, airport in Belogorsk
Ukrainka is a large military airfield in Russia's Amur region, located about 28 kilometers north of Belogorsk. The facility has long concrete runways, numerous aircraft parking areas, and nearly 40 reinforced revetments designed to protect parked aircraft.
The airfield was established in 1955 and served as a key Soviet strategic bomber base during the Cold War. After the Soviet Union's collapse in the 1990s, aircraft from closed bases in Kazakhstan were relocated here.
The airfield takes its name from the nearby settlement and appears under different names on various maps and documents. The surroundings have a military character, with functional structures oriented entirely toward flight operations and strategic defense needs.
The base is not open to the public and is strictly guarded for security reasons. Visitors can observe the facility only from a distance, where large aircraft are parked in orderly rows.
The base served during the Cold War as one of only six Soviet sites capable of handling the Myasishchev M-4 bomber. This made it a strategically critical installation for Soviet long-range aviation operations.
