Anna Akhmatova Literary and Memorial Museum

The Anna Akhmatova Museum occupies an apartment in the Fontanny Dom palace in Saint Petersburg, preserving the interior where the poet lived for an extended period. The rooms contain manuscripts, photographs, personal objects, and artworks that record different phases of her life.

Akhmatova lived in this apartment from 1926 to 1952 alongside art historian Nikolai Punin during a period of major political upheaval. The space witnessed the Soviet repressions that affected many people close to her.

The rooms preserve the spaces where Akhmatova lived and worked, filled with everyday objects that show how she moved through daily life during the 20th century. The collection reveals how an important poet maintained her presence in Russian society despite the difficult times surrounding her.
