Нижегородка, Residential district in western Ufa, Russia.
Nizhegorodka is a residential district in western Ufa, Russia, stretching between the Belaya River and the city center with predominantly single-family homes. The area includes two lakes called Dolgoe and Eremeevskoe along with schools, kindergartens, and small industrial facilities.
The district emerged in the early 19th century when Old Believer settlers from Nizhny Novgorod province established their workshops on the right bank of the Sutoloka River. These communities shaped the area's early development and craft traditions.
The Krestovozdvizhenskaya Church remains active for worship and reflects the faith of the early settlers. The Yadkar House of Culture serves as a gathering space where residents come together for local events and celebrations.
The district has two schools, two kindergartens, and connections to Ufa railway station and the Pravaya Belaya stopping point for public transport. Visitors should note that the area sits on the city's edge, requiring some travel time to explore.
The district sits at an elevation of 87 to 91 meters and experiences annual spring flooding from the Belaya River. Plans exist for a nine-kilometer protective dam to address these seasonal water issues.
