Dvuyakornaya Cove, Natural cove on the Black Sea coast, Republic of Crimea.
Dvuyakornaya Cove is a natural inlet along the southeastern Crimean shoreline, marked by rocky cliffs that drop toward the Black Sea. The waters here are relatively clear and provide habitat for diverse marine organisms and bottom-dwelling life forms.
The cove served as a trading point during ancient times when Greek merchants established settlements along the coast starting around the 6th century BCE. These early connections shaped maritime activity in the region.
Marine researchers frequent this location to study the extensive collection of benthic diatoms, with 304 species identified across 78 genera in recent scientific surveys.
The location offers natural shelter for small boats and is accessible to researchers conducting fieldwork. Visitors should know that the cove is primarily used for research activities and therefore may be difficult to reach or explore.
Scientists have discovered numerous diatom species in these waters, including several previously unknown to science. These findings make the location particularly valuable for marine biology and the study of microscopic organisms.
