Al Jum'ah Mosque

Al Jum'ah Mosque is a prayer house in Medina with one large central dome and four smaller domes at the sides. The renovated building holds about 650 worshippers and has separate prayer sections for men and women, plus a library.

The building marks where Prophet Muhammad led his first Friday prayer in 622 during his migration from Mecca to Medina. Over time the structure changed from its original stone form into the building that stands today.

The mosque brings the local community together for Friday prayers and daily worship throughout the week. Its spaces support religious learning and strengthen bonds among those who gather there regularly.

The mosque is easy to reach as it sits in a central location in Medina and can be walked to from nearby areas. Visitors should wear modest clothing and be aware of prayer times, as these shape the rhythm of activity throughout the day.

The site sits about 900 meters north of Quba Mosque and grew from a simple stone building into the modern structure seen today. A major renovation in 1988 gave the building its current look with the distinctive domes.
