Harrat Rahat

Harrat Rahat extends over 16,000 square kilometers of terrain, featuring multiple volcanic cones and extensive dark lava flows across the landscape.

The field experienced its last recorded eruption in 1256 CE, when six scoria cones produced a substantial lava flow reaching within 4 kilometers of Medina.

Local communities near the volcanic field have incorporated the volcanic rocks into their traditional building methods and architectural designs.
