Al Khaldiyeh neighborhood, Residential neighborhood in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Al Khaldiyeh is a residential neighborhood in the southeastern part of Riyadh, bordered by Ali Ibn Abi Talib Road, Al Kharj Road, and the Southern Ring Road. It is primarily a family area with schools and health centers serving both its own residents and those of nearby districts.
The area was once known as Hillat al-Anouz and was home to the Anizah tribe before the city expanded around it. It was renamed Al Khaldiyeh in the 1980s to honor King Khalid bin Abdulaziz.
The neighborhood draws residents from many different countries, and walking through its streets you can hear Bengali, Hindi, Urdu, Malayalam, and several Arabic dialects spoken side by side. The local shops, eateries, and prayer times reflect this mix in a very direct and everyday way.
The neighborhood is easy to reach by car via Al Kharj Road or the Southern Ring Road, which connect it to other parts of Riyadh. Morning hours tend to be quieter, while evenings see more traffic around the main roads.
The name Hillat al-Anouz, which the area carried for generations, translates roughly as 'camp of the she-goats', a reference to the pastoral life of the Anizah tribe. That name still comes up in conversations among older residents, even decades after the official renaming.
