Corinthia Hotel Khartoum, architectural structure
Corinthia Hotel Khartoum is a high-rise hotel in Khartoum, Sudan, built in a twin-sail shape close to the point where the Blue and White Nile rivers meet. Most of its rooms and suites face either the river or the city, and the building features an open atrium at lobby level that connects the interior spaces.
The hotel opened in 2008 and was among the first modern high-rises to be built in Khartoum's business district. It went up during a period when the city was beginning to attract international investment and expand its commercial infrastructure.
The hotel sits in a place where people from different backgrounds meet and move through the city center. The open lobby and dining areas serve as meeting points where business travelers, visitors, and locals naturally gather and experience the daily rhythm of Khartoum.
The hotel sits close to government buildings and major office areas, which makes it a natural base for business travelers in Khartoum. The riverside setting means that a short walk from the entrance puts you along the banks of the Nile.
The top floor houses the Rickshaw restaurant, which serves dishes from several Asian countries while looking out over the point where the two branches of the Nile meet. That combination of Asian food and an African river panorama is something rarely found in Khartoum.
