Balder, Wooden roller coaster at Liseberg, Sweden
The wooden roller coaster spans 1,070 meters in length, reaches heights of 36 meters, and accelerates riders to speeds of 90 kilometers per hour.
Intamin and Werner Stengel collaborated on the design and construction of this attraction, which opened its gates to the public on April 12, 2003.
The name Balder draws from Nordic mythology, reflecting the regional heritage of Gothenburg and connecting the attraction to Swedish cultural elements.
The roller coaster operates with two trains of five cars each, accommodating 30 riders per train with a minimum height requirement of 130 centimeters.
The structure incorporates prefabricated track design and pressure-treated laminated veneer lumber rails covered with steel plating, departing from traditional wooden coaster construction methods.
