Valkyria, Steel roller coaster in Liseberg, Sweden
Valkyria is a steel roller coaster at Liseberg featuring a 50-meter vertical drop into an underground tunnel and reaching speeds of 105 kilometers per hour. The track includes three inversions spread across 750 meters of track.
The coaster opened in August 2018 as part of a major investment project that transformed the Balder section of the park. It was designed by Bolliger & Mabillard, specialists in steel coaster engineering.
The coaster takes its name from Norse mythology, where Valkyries were supernatural beings who selected warriors for the afterlife.
Riders must be at least 132 centimeters tall and 7 years old to experience this attraction. Access is through the main pathways in the Balder area, and queues can grow considerably during peak times.
The highlight is a pause element at the top where riders momentarily stop before plunging vertically into the tunnel. This creates a brief moment of suspense before the descent, making the drop feel more intense.
