Ale is a municipality in Västra Götaland County near Gothenburg, consisting of several populated centers spread across forested terrain and waterways. The main administrative hub is located in Nödinge-Nol, where local services and facilities are concentrated.

The area formed from three separate districts that merged in 1974, adopting the name from the historic Ale Hundred administrative region. This consolidation brought together communities with deep roots in the local landscape.
