Nobelpalatset, Historical building in Östermalm, Stockholm, Sweden

Nobelpalatset is an administrative building in Östermalm designed by Ferdinand Boberg between 1906 and 1911, featuring a ceremonial hall that could hold around 1200 people. The structure was planned for the former grounds of a forest research institute at Ladugårdsberget but remained an unrealized project.

The building was designed by Ferdinand Boberg as a memorial to Alfred Nobel, funded through royalties from Nobel's patents. This early 20th-century project reflected Sweden's recognition of Nobel's scientific legacy.

The building sparked architectural debates in Sweden about balancing international design with national style preferences. These discussions shaped how architects thought about modern Swedish design during this period.

The site is centrally located in Östermalm with good access by public transport and walking routes. Visitors should know that the area today consists mainly of a park, as the original building was never constructed.

Although the building was never constructed, the project lives on through Nobelparken park and Nobelgatan street in Östermalm. These place names preserve the memory of Boberg's ambitious memorial design.
