Nobelpalatset, Historical building in Östermalm, Stockholm, Sweden
Nobelpalatset stands on the former grounds of Skogsinstitutet at Ladugårdsberget, featuring administration offices and a ceremonial hall for 1200 people.
Ferdinand Boberg designed the building between 1906 and 1911 as a memorial to Alfred Nobel, funded by royalties from Nobel's patents.
The architectural plans for Nobelpalatset sparked debates among Swedish architects regarding the building's international design elements versus national style preferences.
The Nobel Foundation acquired a property at Sturegatan 14 for administrative purposes after determining that Boberg's project exceeded financial constraints.
The unrealized building project lives on through Nobelparken park and Nobelgatan street names in the Östermalm district of Stockholm.
