Brittiska residenset, Ambassadorial residence in Diplomatstaden, Stockholm, Sweden
Brittiska residenset is the official residence of the British ambassador in Stockholm, featuring three plastered facades in light colors and a T-shaped foundation. The building overlooks the Djurgårdsbrunnsviken waters and displays traditional diplomatic architecture.
Scottish architect Richard Allison designed this building in 1914 while serving as chief architect of the Office of Works in London. It was constructed in 1915 and has served as an ambassadorial residence since then.
The interior follows British architectural traditions, with fireplaces positioned along exterior walls and distinct spaces dedicated to diplomatic functions.
The building is located in Diplomatstaden, a residential area with several embassy residences, and is best reached on foot or by public transport. As an official residence, it can be viewed from outside but is not open to visitors.
This villa is the only property in Diplomatstaden that has remained under the same ownership since its construction in 1915. This makes it a rare example of continuous use in a neighborhood where embassy residences often change hands.
