Berwald Hall

Berwald Hall is a hexagonal concert venue in Östermalm built partially into the rock, offering around 1,300 seats across multiple levels. The structure integrates with the natural landscape, creating an architecture that sits as part of the surrounding environment.

The venue opened in 1979 after construction began in 1976 under architects Erik Ahnborg and Sune Lindström. The building was part of Stockholm's cultural infrastructure expansion during that period.

The Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra and Swedish Radio Choir regularly perform here, shaping the city's concert scene. It serves as a central venue for classical music and draws audiences from across Stockholm.

The entrance is located at Dag Hammarskjölds väg and is easily walkable, with the underground location making navigation straightforward. It's best to arrive early to explore the different levels and find a good seat for the performance.

Much of the structure sits underground, earning it the local nickname 'gruvan' and keeping its visual footprint minimal within the surrounding park. This hidden design makes it a secret architectural gem tucked into the city's landscape.
