Stora Torp, Manor house in Örgryte, Sweden
Stora Torp is a stone manor house located north of the Delsjö nature reserve near Gothenburg. The building was designed by architect Axel Kumlien and combines residential and office spaces on extensive grounds.
The estate was originally known as Torpit and managed by the Leijonhufvud family before passing to new owners over time. In the 1900s, Gothenburg acquired the property and carried out extensive renovations.
The building displays neo-Renaissance features that reflect the taste of wealthy families in the 1800s. The architecture shows how affluent households of that era arranged and presented their homes.
The location sits in a quiet area next to a nature reserve, making it accessible for peaceful walks. The best time to visit is during clear days when the surroundings are most visible.
An observation tower called Blå Tornet was built in the late 1800s on a nearby hill. The tower offers views across the surrounding landscape and is an often-overlooked feature of the property.
