Hann Forest and Zoological Park

Hann Forest and Zoological Park is a large green space in Dakar featuring multiple animal enclosures and planted areas. The grounds contain sections for different species alongside botanical gardens with numerous plant varieties for visitors to explore.

A French administrator established a botanical garden at this location in 1903, marking the start of the current facility. Over time, animal areas were added and expanded, transforming it into a place combining wildlife and plants.

The space serves as a green refuge where Dakar residents spend time with family and observe animals in a natural setting. Visitors of all ages use the pathways and open areas as part of their daily connection to nature.

Visitors can walk marked paths through the grounds to view enclosures from a safe distance. Shaded areas and open walkways throughout allow for several hours of comfortable exploration.

An education center with programs about nature and animal protection offers structured learning for school groups. This center has reached thousands of students since opening, teaching them about environmental topics in hands-on ways.
