Phon Thong

Phon Thong is an administrative district in the northern part of Roi Et province, divided into fourteen sub-districts with roughly 190 villages throughout the area. The region is connected by a network of local roads that link to the main provincial highways.

The district was established in 1919 and briefly renamed to Waeng in 1939 before returning to its original name in 1953. These changes reflect how administrative boundaries and local organization shifted across the region during the twentieth century.

People here practice Buddhism daily, visiting temples where you'll see local devotions and religious ceremonies. The markets bring the community together, selling fresh local goods and agricultural products that reflect the rhythm of life in the area.

The district is served by local roads that connect to major provincial routes, making it accessible by personal vehicle or local transport. Navigation is straightforward, though roads pass through rural areas and may vary in condition.

The area borders five neighboring districts and sits at an elevation of about 157 meters (515 feet) above sea level. This relatively elevated position influences the local terrain and how water flows through the region.
