Wiang Haeng, Administrative district in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
Wiang Haeng is an administrative district in Chiang Mai comprising three sub-districts and multiple villages spread across the territory. Rivers and mountain ranges shape the landscape and how communities are arranged throughout the area.
The area was originally part of Chiang Dao district before becoming a minor district in 1981. Full recognition as an independent district came a few years later.
The three sub-districts maintain local traditions through annual festivals and farming practices that shape daily life in the area. These customs remain closely tied to the seasons and the land.
The area can be reached by road from Chiang Mai and is best visited during the cooler winter months when weather conditions are most comfortable. This season makes it easier to explore the villages and mountain regions.
The Daen Lao mountain range in the northern section contains the source of the Taeng River, which forms a natural boundary with Myanmar. This river marks an important geographic point for the region.
