The Cathedral of the Holy Spirit features three naves and a brick facade situated between Taksim Square and Nişantaşı on Cumhuriyet Avenue.
Swiss-Italian architect Giuseppe Fossati constructed this cathedral in 1846, followed by Pietro Vitalis renovations in 1866 after an earthquake damaged the structure.
The cathedral serves a multicultural Catholic congregation with daily masses conducted in different languages, reflecting Istanbul's diverse religious community.
Visitors can find the cathedral through a narrow passage near Notre Dame de Sion French school, with mass schedules varying throughout the week.
The cathedral grounds contain a commemorative statue of Pope Benedict XV and maintain multilingual confession services with language indicators for each priest.
