Çorum

Çorum is a provincial capital in central Turkey, situated in a fertile plain between Ankara and the Black Sea coast at roughly 800 meters elevation. The city occupies a region with numerous archaeological sites and serves as a regional hub for commerce and agriculture.

The area around the city was home to the Hittite Empire, whose ancient capital Hattusa was founded around 1700 BC. Later, Ottoman settlers left architectural marks that remain visible in the urban landscape today.

Workshops for copper work, leather crafting, and textile production shape the city's character and show how traditional skills remain active here. These craftspeople are visible throughout neighborhoods, keeping methods alive that have been passed down for generations.

The city connects to major Turkish destinations through regular bus services and sits roughly 240 kilometers from Ankara and around 600 kilometers from Istanbul. Overland travel by bus is the main way visitors reach the city.

The city produces leblebi, roasted chickpea snacks that are known throughout the region and represent a genuine local product. This snack is so typical of the place that visitors can find and taste it nearly everywhere.
