Osmaniye Province

Osmaniye Province is a region in southern Turkey covering approximately 3,320 square kilometers in the Çukurova area. It comprises seven districts, with the city of Osmaniye serving as the administrative center.

The area was originally known as Cebel-i Bereket until it merged with Adana Province in 1933. The region regained its independent provincial status in 1996 after decades of administrative changes.

The Karakucak Wrestling Festival takes place each May in the Kadirli district, showcasing traditional Turkish wrestling styles and local competitors. Visitors can observe how deeply this sport is woven into community gatherings and local pride throughout the region.

The Mediterranean climate brings hot, dry summers with very high temperatures, while winters remain mild with occasional rainfall. Visitors should prepare for summer heat and carry plenty of water, as the cooler winter months are more comfortable for exploring.

The province is a major peanut production center, using fertile lands along the Ceyhan River for extensive farming operations. This agricultural focus shapes the local economy and landscape in ways visitors can observe throughout the region.
