Köprü Dam, Hydroelectric power station and gravity dam in Kozan, Turkey
Köprü Dam is a concrete gravity dam crossing the Göksu River with a structure spanning 413 meters. Two turbines inside the dam convert the river's flow into electrical power for the region.
Construction started in 2009 and the dam became operational in 2012 when the reservoir filled for the first time. The power station has supplied electricity to the surrounding areas since then.
The development of Köprü Dam represents Turkey's commitment to renewable energy infrastructure and sustainable power generation practices in the Adana Province.
The power station sits within a restricted area and is usually viewable only from a distance. Best views can be found from roads running near the riverbank in the area.
The reservoir created behind the dam formed a new water body with its own role in the local environment. Over time it became an important habitat for fish and bird species in the region.
