Bayındır, Administrative district in Izmir Province, Turkey
Bayındır is an administrative district in Izmir Province that spreads across the Küçük Menderes valley with numerous small settlements. The area is primarily rural, characterized by agricultural lands where cherries and flowers are grown extensively.
The area was known in ancient times as Caystrus before adopting the name of the Bayındır Turkmen clan who settled here during the medieval period. This early settlement established the foundation for agricultural development in the region.
The Cherry Festival in June showcases local varieties from surrounding orchards, and the Flower Festival in April brings the community together to celebrate seasonal crops. Both events remain central to how residents mark the rhythm of their year.
The district is linked to Izmir by the Aydın railway line with several stops throughout the area. The flat terrain of the valley makes navigation by car straightforward for visitors exploring the region.
Natural hot springs located near the town contain water rich in minerals with temperatures comfortable for soaking throughout the year. Many visitors are surprised to discover such thermal resources in this primarily agricultural area.
