Tmolus

Mount Tmolus is an extensive mountain range dividing two major river basins and spreading across multiple valleys in western Turkey. The system spans a long distance and includes several peaks, with the highest points exceeding 2000 meters in elevation.

The range takes its name from an ancient Lydian legend involving a figure connected to the region's early history. Its prominence increased as neighboring cities like Sardis and Hypaepa developed at its base and slopes, tying the mountain to regional development.

The slopes supported grape cultivation in ancient times and served as a vital connector between communities in the valleys below. This mountain shaped how people in the region organized their farms and trade networks.

The mountain is accessible from the valleys on both sides and offers hiking routes of varying difficulty through its passes and slopes. Visitors should prepare for changing weather conditions and bring appropriate gear depending on the season and planned duration.
