İdil, Administrative district in Şırnak Province, Turkey
The territory of İdil spans 1,148 square kilometers across southeastern Turkey, containing three towns and sixty-five villages at 37°18′N latitude and 41°50′E longitude.
The settlement, formerly known as Azakh, appears in Assyrian records during King Adad-nirari III's reign and later faced conflicts during the Ottoman Empire in 1834.
The district maintains a mixed population of Kurdish tribes including Domanan, Dorikan, Harunan, Meman, and Omerkan, along with a small Assyrian community.
The district structure includes three main towns - İdil, Karalar, and Sırtköy - connected by transportation networks that link rural settlements to urban centers.
The district's geography spans both the Tur Abdin region in the west and the Bohtan region in the east, creating distinct territorial characteristics.
