Tofaş Museum of Cars and Anatolian Carriages

The Tofaş Museum of Cars and Anatolian Carriages is a transport museum in Bursa that displays historical vehicles ranging from ancient chariots to modern automobiles. The collection spans 17,000 square meters and covers a broad range of transportation from different periods.

The building was originally constructed as a silk production facility and was converted in 2002 to house an extensive collection of transportation artifacts. This transformation linked Bursa's industrial past with a new mission to preserve transportation history.

The collection features traditional Anatolian carriages that reflect the craftsmanship of local woodworkers and metalworkers across different eras. You can observe how these vehicles were built by hand and how they shaped daily life in the region.

The museum is accessible on most days, with guided tours available and a café on site for refreshments. Wear comfortable shoes and allow plenty of time, as the exhibition spaces are spread across a large area.

The museum displays a reconstructed chariot dating to the 6th century BC, based on archaeological discoveries from the Üçpınar Tumulus near Balıkesir. This reconstruction offers visitors a rare glimpse into ancient transportation technology from the region.
