İzmir Museum of History and Art

The İzmir Museum of History and Art is an archaeological museum in Konak displaying stone sculptures, ceramics, and precious artifacts from ancient civilizations across three exhibition sections. The collection spans multiple time periods and regional centers, offering a comprehensive view of local and regional ancient history.

The collection contains artifacts from the 6th century BC originating from major ancient cities including Smyrna, Iassos, Pitane, Pergamon, and Ephesus. These objects document the region's cultural development across several centuries.

The entrance displays sarcophagi, stelae, and sculptures showing how ancient people honored their dead and what activities mattered in daily life. Walking through these objects gives you a sense of burial customs and the importance of athletic competition in Hellenistic and Roman society.

The museum is located within Kulturpark and opens daily except Mondays, with wheelchair access throughout the building. This location makes it convenient to combine your visit with other park attractions.

The museum houses over 1500 artifacts including gold, silver, and bronze items along with an extensive collection of ancient coins and jewelry. These valuable pieces show the craftsmanship and artistic skill of the region's ancient inhabitants.
