Arkas Art Center, Art museum in Kültür, Turkey
The Arkas Art Center is an art museum in Konak spread across two floors with nine exhibition spaces. The collections feature artworks spanning different periods and artistic styles.
The building was completed in 1906 and originally served as the Honorary Consulate of France. It reopened as an art center in 2011 following extensive renovation.
The center features works by Turkish and international artists that reflect both local and global artistic voices. You can see how different artistic movements and perspectives are represented across the galleries.
The museum sits near the Gulf of Izmir and provides full wheelchair accessibility throughout the building. The gallery layout offers plenty of space for comfortable viewing of the exhibitions.
From September 2019 to January 2020, the museum exhibited original works by Pablo Picasso as part of the Picasso-Méditerranée project. This special exhibition gave visitors the rare opportunity to see major European artworks in Izmir.
