İzmir Art and Sculpture Museum

The İzmir Art and Sculpture Museum displays Turkish paintings, sculptures, and ceramic works primarily from the 20th century across multiple floors. The collection includes a specialized library for art research alongside the exhibition spaces.

The institution was founded in 1952 as a state painting and sculpture museum and later moved from its original home at Kültürpark. The relocation to Atatürk Boulevard represented a significant step in the museum's development.

The museum hosts regular workshops where visitors can try their hand at painting, ceramics, sculpture, and traditional crafts. These classes introduce people to different artistic techniques in a hands-on way.

The museum opens six days a week and closes only on Mondays for visitors. Allow time to explore the various floors and the collection at a comfortable pace.

The collection features numerous works by Turkish artist Turgut Pura, whose contributions shaped the institution's direction in the 1970s. His pieces offer insight into the artistic direction the museum pursued during that transformative period.
