Milas Museum

Milas Museum is a two-story building with a spacious yard that holds more than 3,000 archaeological objects and over 1,000 coins from different periods. The collections come from important ancient sites in the surrounding area and cover time periods from the Hellenistic era through the Ottoman period.

The museum was founded in 1987 to document the history of ancient sites including Stratonicea, Iasos, Damlibogaz, and Beçin. These locations represent the major developments of different civilizations that succeeded one another in the region.

The ethnographic section displays traditional clothing and everyday objects that show how local communities lived and dressed in earlier times. These items help visitors understand the daily customs and practical skills that were important in the region.

The museum is open from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM every day of the week, making it accessible for visits at various times. The two-story layout and outdoor yard allow visitors to explore at their own pace without feeling rushed.

A notable statue of Zeus from the 2nd century stands out among the exhibits and shows the craftsmanship of Roman and Hellenistic artists. The size and careful details of this statue give visitors an impression of how ancient artists worked and what they valued.
