İncirliin Cave

İncirliin Cave is a limestone cave near Milas featuring natural formations that developed over thousands of years. The accessible section runs through several chambers decorated with stalactites and stalagmites, illuminated by electric lighting.

Excavations by Muğla University in 2016 revealed evidence of human occupation dating back to around 6000 BC. These findings including tools and pottery show that the cave was inhabited across extended periods.

The cave served as a shelter for people across millennia, with traces visible to visitors today through the artifacts left behind. These finds reveal how early inhabitants used this space and what craftsmanship skills they possessed.

The lit section is easily walkable and accessible for most visitors, with solid pathways through the chambers. Temperatures stay cool year-round, so bringing a light layer to put on is practical.

The cave sits within a canyon that contains roughly thirty other caves nearby, yet this is the only one regularly open to visitors. This makes it a window into the geological and human history of the entire region.
