Ximen Station, Metro interchange station in Wanhua District, Taiwan.
Ximen Station is an underground interchange on Taipei Metro with three levels and two island platforms. It connects the Songshan-Xindian and Bannan lines at the intersection of Zhonghua Road and Chengdu Road.
The station opened in December 1999 and replaced an earlier railway station called Shinkichō that operated from 1930 during Japanese administration. The new station became part of Taipei's modern metro expansion.
The name comes from the former west gate of Taipei that once stood nearby, linking current transportation with old city boundaries. This connection reminds visitors of how the city once was organized.
Six exits are positioned around the Zhonghua Road and Chengdu Road intersection, providing direct access to nearby shops and restaurants. The clear signage and straightforward layout make it easy to navigate between platforms and find your way out.
The station contains an Intelligent Library, an automated branch of Taipei Public Library where transit passengers can borrow and return reading materials. This library operates 24 hours and serves people who would not otherwise have easy library access.
