Tamsui District, Administrative district in New Taipei, Taiwan

Tamsui District extends over 70 square kilometers along the northern coast of Taiwan, where the Tamsui River meets the Taiwan Strait.

During the 19th century, Tamsui grew into Taiwan's largest port, managing extensive exports of tea, camphor, and sulfur under the Qing dynasty administration.

The district preserves architectural elements from multiple colonial periods, including Spanish-built Fort San Domingo and numerous traditional Taiwanese structures.

The Taipei Metro red line connects visitors directly to Tamsui, with stations positioned near major attractions and the central commercial area.

Forty-two distinct urban villages form the administrative structure of Tamsui, each contributing to the district's population of 189,271 residents.
