Wuji Tianyuan Temple, Taoist temple in Tamsui, Taiwan

Wuji Tianyuan Temple is a Taoist temple in Tamsui featuring a striking five-story central tower called the Tiantan, which honors the Jade Emperor and displays elaborate carved ornaments throughout. The building stands out for its detailed architectural craftsmanship and traditional design elements.

The temple grounds were transformed in the 1970s when local volunteers planted hundreds of cherry trees around the area. This effort created a lasting connection between the sacred structure and the natural landscape.

The temple serves as a living center for Taoist worship, where regular ceremonies and offerings shape the spiritual rhythm of the surrounding community. Visitors can witness these practices and understand how the sacred space functions in daily religious life.

The temple is located on Beixin Road and welcomes visitors daily without any entrance fee, making it easy to explore at your own pace. You can walk through the grounds and interior spaces freely throughout the day.

Between February and March, hundreds of cherry trees flowering around the temple create a striking pink display that transforms the entire area. This seasonal show draws photographers and visitors seeking to capture the temporary flowering canopy.
