Core Pacific City, Shopping center in Songshan District, Taiwan.
Core Pacific City was a shopping center in Songshan District with 19 floors across two distinctly shaped buildings. An L-shaped structure and a striking sphere tower made of polished granite formed the main silhouette of the complex, housing numerous retail and entertainment venues.
The shopping center opened in November 2001 as a modern retail landmark and served the district for nearly two decades. It ceased operations in November 2019, ending its time as an established commercial hub in the area.
The building design merged international materials, combining Finnish granite for the sphere section and Spanish granite for the L-shaped portion of the structure.
The complex was organized across multiple levels with both above-ground and underground floors for shopping and services. The split-level design allowed visitors to navigate different zones and find various types of stores throughout the building.
On its final day of operation, approximately 100,000 people visited to bid farewell to the landmark before demolition began. This extraordinary gathering showed how deeply the place had become part of local memory and community identity.
