Shizi

Shizi is a mountainous administrative township located in southeastern Pingtung County, Taiwan. The region is characterized by rugged terrain and several waterways that flow through its valleys.

The area was originally home to Paiwan settlements known as Chaobo Obol before European colonization arrived. The name Shizi comes from a large rock formation that resembles a lion's head.

The Cultural Relics Exhibition Hall displays artworks created by the Paiwan people, including paintings of traditional hunting practices and carved totem designs. Visitors can experience the artistic expressions and spiritual symbols important to the local community here.

The area can be reached via Provincial Highway 1 and County Highway 199, which provide connections to neighboring villages. Regular bus services operate between the various communities throughout the region.

Neiwen Village features a three-kilometer avenue lined with bamboo trees that is decorated with bridges. These bridges display indigenous carvings and traditional Paiwan clothing patterns painted on their walls.
