霧鹿溫泉, Natural thermal spring in Taitung County, Taiwan
Wulu Hot Spring is a natural thermal source in the mountains of eastern Taiwan, where mineral-rich water emerges from underground at approximately 45 degrees Celsius. The facility features both indoor and outdoor bathing areas with varying mineral compositions to suit different bathing preferences.
Indigenous Bunun communities relied on these thermal waters for generations before modern bathing facilities were established during the 1970s. This transition from traditional use to contemporary development shaped the site's current character.
The Bunun people incorporate the thermal waters into their traditional healing practices, combining mineral bathing with medicinal herbs gathered from surrounding forests.
The facility is open daily and offers both indoor and outdoor areas for bathing. Visitors should bring comfortable footwear and towels, as paths lead through mountainous terrain to reach different sections.
The water contains elevated levels of carbonic acid and sodium bicarbonate, creating a natural carbonated bath sensation in the outdoor pools. This effervescent quality is uncommon in the region and makes each visit feel distinctive.
