Hsinchu Jinshi Mansion, Historical mansion in Beimen Street, Hsinchu, Taiwan.

Hsinchu Jinshi Mansion is a residence on Beimen Street featuring five internal courtyards arranged in traditional Kinmen architectural style. The structure displays red brick walls and green stone balustrades across its various sections.

The residence was built in 1838 and belonged to Zheng Yong-xi, the first Taiwanese person to achieve the highest rank in China's imperial civil service examination. This accomplishment elevated his family's standing in both local and broader spheres.

The structure blends architectural styles from Taiwan and China, showing how different regions influenced each other through trade and family connections. Walking around it, you can see design choices that reflect these cross-cultural exchanges in the brickwork and stonework.

The mansion is not open to visitors inside, but you can view its exterior from Beimen Street at any time during the day. Walking along the street gives you a good perspective on the building's overall design and decorative elements.

Some building materials were sourced directly from Kinmen Island and specially transported for construction. This choice reveals the effort made to maintain authenticity and ensure craftsmanship quality in every detail.
