小丑魚主題館, Marine research center in Chenggong, Taiwan
The Clownfish Theme Hall is a marine research center in Chenggong housed in a four-story building with multiple aquarium tanks displaying various clownfish species and their reef environments. Specialized zones include displays of reef fish, interactive touch pools, and areas showing the water systems that keep these environments alive.
The facility opened in 2002 as the National Taitung Marine Biology Exhibition Hall and later transformed into a specialized clownfish-focused center under new management. This shift allowed the institution to concentrate on research and conservation efforts for these particular fish species.
The place teaches about how clownfish depend on sea anemones for survival and how this partnership shapes reef ecosystems. Visitors observe these relationships directly in the tanks and learn why protecting these species matters for ocean health.
The center is open Tuesday through Sunday and offers straightforward paths through the tanks and exhibits that are easy to navigate. It helps to check beforehand if special feeding times or educational talks are scheduled, as these events enhance the experience.
The center houses Taiwan's only exhibition area dedicated to showing modern water support systems that keep marine organisms alive. This technology is what makes the extensive collection of Indo-Pacific clownfish species possible in the first place.
