Baihe Taiwan Film & TV Town, Film and television studio complex in Baihe District, Taiwan.
Baihe Taiwan Film & TV Town is a large studio complex in Baihe District, southern Taiwan, built around reconstructed streets, buildings, and plazas used as film and television sets. The grounds are organized into distinct zones, each designed to evoke a different era or setting, from traditional shophouses to colonial-era facades.
The site opened in 1991 and quickly became a major center for Taiwanese film and television production. After more than 100 productions were shot there, it closed to filming in 2017 and later reopened as a visitor attraction.
Many of the sets were built for Taiwanese television dramas that shaped the childhoods of generations of viewers. Walking through the streets here feels like stepping into scenes that locals still remember vividly.
The grounds are large and spread across several zones, so setting aside a good half day gives enough time to see most areas without rushing. Comfortable shoes make a big difference, as walking between the different sets involves a fair amount of ground.
The facades across the complex mix southern Chinese shophouse styles with Baroque details introduced during the Japanese colonial period, creating an architectural combination rarely seen elsewhere. This mix meant that a single location could stand in for very different eras within the same production.
