Deyue Gun Tower

The Deyue Gun Tower is a structure about 11 meters high in Jinshui Village that blends local and Western building styles. It features a mix of construction techniques that represent the architectural choices of its time.

A wealthy merchant named Huang Hui-huang from Shuitou funded construction of this tower in 1931 and created a new landmark for the region. The project marked an important moment in the local architectural history of Kinmen County.

The name Deyue means "catching the moon" and reflects how residents wove poetic meanings into their buildings. Such naming choices show an old tradition of connecting places to literary and natural imagery.

The tower is accessible from the main road running through the village and can be reached on foot. Good walking shoes are helpful since the approach may involve uneven ground or local paths.
