隆田十號糧倉

The Longtian Number 10 Granary is a historic storage building in Guantian built with thick walls and divided compartments for keeping grain safe and organized. The interior layout features separate chambers designed to store different types of grain or separate batches, with solid construction throughout to protect the contents from weather and pests.

This granary was built as rice production increased significantly across Taiwan during the 20th century when farming became more intensive. It served as a critical facility for collecting and protecting harvests during a period of agricultural expansion and growing food demands.

The building reflects how this agricultural community stored and protected its grain harvests, with the structure itself telling the story of farming life in the region. The design choices show what mattered most to people at that time: keeping food safe and accessible throughout the year.

The site can be reached via Longtian Station and welcomes visitors for educational tours arranged through local cultural organizations. Wear comfortable shoes to walk through the different chambers, and plan your visit in advance since guided tours may need to be booked ahead of time.

The building contains a natural ventilation system designed to keep grain in good condition without needing powered cooling or refrigeration. This clever design approach allowed farmers to store large quantities safely, and it is one of the few examples of this ventilation method still visible in the region today.
