Feodosiia

Feodosiia extends along the western shores of Feodosiya Bay, featuring a natural harbor and multiple beaches near the southeastern coast of the Black Sea.

Greek colonists established this settlement in the 6th century BCE as Theodosia, which later became a major Genoese trading port known as Caffa until 1783.

The city houses the Aivazovsky National Art Gallery, containing maritime paintings and regional artworks within a 1845 mansion near the waterfront.

The municipal territory spans 350 square kilometers and includes five towns plus twelve villages, connected through a network of regional roads and maritime routes.

The port witnessed one of the earliest recorded instances of biological warfare in 1346 when besieging forces catapulted plague-infected bodies over the city walls.
