Kosiv Raion

Kosiv Raion is an administrative district in Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast with a mountainous landscape crossed by several rivers. The territory is divided into five administrative units, including Kosiv urban area and several rural communities.

The area has been inhabited since Neolithic times, with the first written record of Kosiv appearing in 1424. This long history shaped the region into an important cultural center.

Local artisans practice traditional crafts including pottery, wood carving, and the painting of decorated Easter eggs known as pysankas. These skills have become central to how people express their identity and connect with their heritage.
