Kuteinykove, Urban settlement in Ilovaisk Hromada, Ukraine
Kuteinykove is an urban-type settlement in eastern Ukraine, part of the Ilovaisk Hromada in Donetsk Oblast, set on flat terrain typical of the region. It has residential areas, basic local services, and road connections to nearby towns.
Kuteinykove received its urban-type settlement status in 1925, when Soviet authorities introduced this administrative category across the region. The place developed within this framework for most of the 20th century.
Kuteinykove still shows the marks of Soviet planning in its layout, with rows of low apartment blocks and open communal spaces between buildings. These features give the settlement a familiar look shared by many similar places in eastern Ukraine.
Kuteinykove is located in Donetsk Oblast, an area affected by ongoing conflict, and travel there requires careful attention to current safety conditions. Checking official travel advisories before any visit is strongly recommended.
The administrative category of urban-type settlement, which Kuteinykove held since 1925, was officially abolished by Ukrainian law in the 2020s. This ended a Soviet-era classification that had been in use for nearly 100 years across the country.
