Ocheretyne

Located at an elevation of 233 meters, Ocheretyne extends across eastern Ukraine with rail connections and residential districts spreading through its territory.

Founded in 1880 during railway construction, Ocheretyne later served as a strategic administrative center after the 2014 War in Donbas displaced government offices.

The settlement reflects diverse linguistic patterns with Russian speakers at 54.52 percent and Ukrainian speakers at 44.67 percent according to the 2001 census.

Railway infrastructure connects Ocheretyne to major regional centers, facilitating transportation and commerce throughout the Donetsk Oblast region.

Memorial plaques in Ocheretyne commemorate 169 local fighters who defended against Nazi forces, with 78 casualties and 121 military decoration recipients.
