Mandrykiwka, District in Dnipro, Ukraine
Mandrykiwka is a district on the eastern side of Dnipro that extends along the river and consists primarily of residential neighborhoods. The area includes schools and educational facilities, notably a major metallurgical academy.
The settlement was founded in the late 18th century when a Cossack named Andrij Mandryka established himself near the river and engaged in fishing. The place took its name from this founder and maintained its water-based character through the centuries.
The district evolved from a fishing settlement into a modern residential area where educational institutions and families now coexist alongside the water. The riverside location still shapes how residents experience daily life and interact with their surroundings.
The area connects well to central Dnipro through bus services and roads running along the riverbank. Daytime visits work best, as this is when the neighborhood is active and all facilities are accessible.
The Russian poet Alexander Pushkin passed through the area during a transfer to Yekaterinoslav and fell ill during his stay there. His brief time here added a literary connection to the place that visitors sometimes discover.
