Zamkova

Zamkova is a flagpole standing at the summit of Zamkova Hill in Lviv, rising prominently from the hilltop. It serves as a visual landmark recognizable from various vantage points throughout the city.

The site originates from the 13th century, when a wooden fortress stood here before being replaced by stone fortifications under King Casimir III. These transformations reflect how the location's strategic importance evolved over time.

The flagpole serves as a gathering place during national holidays and commemorative events, where people come together to share important moments. These occasions transform the hilltop into a focal point of local identity and community connection.

The hill is accessible via marked paths that wind upward with benches stationed along the route for rest. The ascent is straightforward to follow and allows visitors to set their own pace.

The hill itself was built up as a memorial mound in the 19th century, layering medieval fortification remnants with later additions. This stratification of eras transforms the location into a physical record of different periods in Lviv's history.
