The Sviatohirsk State Historical and Architectural Reserve extends over 40,589 hectares along the Siverskyi Donets River, featuring chalk mountains and dense forests.

The reserve, established in 1980, contains 129 archaeological sites dating from the Paleolithic period through the Middle Ages, including the Sviatohirsk Lavra monastery.

The territory preserves the Sviatohirsk Lavra monastery complex, which received its status in 2005, alongside monuments and memorials from World War II.

The reserve maintains 11,878 hectares under direct management, protecting 943 plant species and 256 animal species within its boundaries.

The chalk pine trees within the reserve survived from the pre-glacial period, representing one of the oldest plant species in Eastern Europe.
